2016 made “smart” systems more widely available, and 2017 is going to continue that trend. This is especially the case when it comes to a home security system. If you haven’t invested into smart home automation, you definitely want to within the next few months. It is the way to go to keep your home and family safe.

You’re Already Part of the Way There

Chances are you’re already part way through the process of home automation. Over the years, people have been able to time when their electronics would turn on to make it look like they were home. With the introduction of smart phones and apps, people have started using those for all their timer and automation needs.

The benefit is you don’t have to stick to a strict timer. If you’ve seen Home Alone, you’ll know that thieves will watch for any cycles and clear automation happening to know which homes to break into. So, you want to change up the timer a little and even have more personal control.
This isn’t just the way to improve home security. The smart home automation devices will make your home more energy efficient and a more pleasant place to come home to. Just think about how much warmer it will be when you start the heating the minute you leave work!
You don’t just have to do this with the lights, heating, or air conditioning. You can now do it with your alarm systems. And there isn’t a need to invest in a highly expensive home security system anymore. Here are just some of the tools that you can use.

Invest in Amazon Echo for Your Home Automation Needs
Let’s start with one of the newer devices on the market. Amazon Echo and the Echo Dot are now widely available at affordable prices. They work with Alexa, the voice assistant from Amazon—yes, similarly to Siri from Apple. Alexa can affect numerous items throughout the home, as long as they are smart devices. She can also take “If This Then That” commands to change up the timer and automation.

The Echo Dot connects with the Echo to increase the functionality. You’ll be able to control more from a distance.
Tell Alexa that if it reaches a certain time then to turn the lights on automatically. Make this a time that you’re usually home by, so anyone watching will just think you’re back. You can also set a timer for if the light drops by a certain amount, changing the time that the lights turn on to increase security in your hom

Try Out the Wink Hub 2
The Wink Hub 2 is slightly more affordable than the Amazon Echo and works with a full home security system. All you need is an internet connection, either wired or Wi-Fi. If you already have the Echo, then there’s some good news: it works with the Amazon device.
